Decor
These items allow you to
fill your room, house, or locker with everything Ducks! This catagory covers a wide swath
of merchandise, just about everything you can think of that would fit here, can and does!
CD Holder
This zippered CD case is a very rare item,
likely marketed only through select Disney stores. The holder consists of a compartment
for carrying CDs in cloth and plastic sleeves, and a zippered pouch for batteries or other
accessories.
Window Clings
At least four different designs of these
plastic window clings have been produced. Each features assorted team pictures and clip
art, save for Grin who has a sheet all to himself. They were sold in various types of
craft and variety stores. These days, you'll come across them every once and a while on
online auctions.
Window Suction
Panels
These 9"X6" plastic panels were designed to be suctioned onto any
window. They featured the members of the team i their hockey gear. It is unknown whether
or not Tanya was also included in this line of products.
Official Poster
A standard-sized wall poster that featured pictures and info on each member of
the team was marketed in large toy stores like Toys R Us, early in the history of the
show. It should be considered very rare in the present day.
Postcards
These standard-sized and fully mailable
postcards were most likely sold through Disney stores. Because postcards themselves are
collected by many, these appear from time to time in online auctions.
PVC Coin Bank
Sold only in Disney stores, this bank is a statuette of Grin and Wildwing,
crouched back to back near a stone. There is a small slit for inserting coins in Grin's
back, and a plug at the base to empty it.
Stickers
Made by Sandylion, these prismatic stickers come with a sheet featuring clip art for every
member of the team, as well as Dragaunus. Information on the back of the package also
implies that there is also a sticker book that was produced to go along with the set.
Lunchbox and
Thermos
Made by Aladdin, this lunchbox and themos combo in sturdy plastic was sold through toy and
variety stores. Buyers of a used set often seen on online auction sites should beware: the
colors of the thermos are particularly vulnerable to fading because of being cleaned in
the dishwasher.
Soft Lunchbox
This lunchbox is made out of fabric, as opposed to the hard plastic lunchbox above. It
features Wildwing in his goalie gear, along with the team logo. The thermos included with
the set is the same as in the lunchbox above.
School Folders
These folders were two out of possibly
several designs offered. With internal pockets and holes punched in them, they would have
fit into a binder or acted on their own to carry papers.
Bubble Cup
Sold through the Disney Stores as a part of a line of bubble cup products, this
cup features Wildwing standing in his goalie gear, with his stick arm raised. The cup has
a spiraling straw which causes the liquid inside to bubble when someone drinks from it.
Because it is part of a continuing line from the Disney Store, it is still possible to
find this item in shops.
Wildwing Sipper
Presumably marketed through Disney Stores, this sports-style water bottle has a
Wildwing-shaped cap, and the Mighty Ducks logo on its side.
Wildwing Wraparound
Mug
Sold only in the two Mighty Ducks team stores in Anaheim CA, this mug is one of a
few examples of Wildwing being used to substitute for the team mascot on team-related
gear. This mug shows Wildwing in different poses, all in his goalie gear, wrapping around
the mug. The text along the bottom reads 'Wildwing 00 Defender of the Pond'.
Wildwing Bubble
Bath
These molded bubble bath containers, often referred to by collectors as 'soakies', were
sold through several department stores. The bottle unscrews from the puck-shaped bottom.
Figurine Glycerin
Soaps
These children's bar soaps were marketed through the Disney Stores and the Mighty
Ducks team stores in Anaheim. They featured a clear green or blue glycerin soap with a
MD:TAS figurine in the middle. Also cross-listed on the Figurines page.
Grin Lip Balm
Sold through the Disney Store and the two
Mighty Ducks team stores in Anaheim, this lip balm features the team logo on the label,
and a Grin-shaped cap that is quite similar to the pose he takes in the PVC coin bank
shown above.
Twin Sheet Set
This twin-sized pattern sheet features
several clip art poses of the Ducks in their hockey gear, along with scattered logos in
yellow and purple. Most notably, Duke's feather color is far lighter than it should be,
and Wildwing's is far darker. Both actually have the feather shade of Nosedive instead.
Mighty Ducks
Animation Cels
Included here because they are displayed on walls, these cels are the only way
that a fan of the show can own a tangible one of a kind piece of their Ducks. As any
animation art collector knows, cels come in different ranges of quality. The scenes shown
on TV actually consist of several layers of cels, which are thin sheets of plastic painted
and inked with drawings. The base level is the background painting. Original backgrounds
are extremely valuable because only one of them is made per shot, as opposed to possibly
hundreds of cels. Cels sold with backgrounds are very expensive, and wise collectors
should look for cels with certificates of authenticity to guard against forgery. The
actual cel itself makes up the most commonly seen items for sale. Another item sometimes
sold with the cel is a pencil sketch, the artist's original drawing of the cel before it
is traced and inked onto the plastic sheet, and then painted. Pencil sketches are valuable
because they are not usually saved, and hard to match up to the plastic cel after the
cartoon has been filmed. Pencil sketches often contain personal notes from the artist
about shading and color effects. Pictured above are two Mighty Ducks animation cels, the
first one including a pencil sketch and the second one including a certificate of
authenticity from Disney. These are rare no matter where you look, but the most reliable
soure is from Disney itself. If you're prepared to invest several hundred dollars in a
piece of art, contacting a local Disney store will start you off.
Notes: A good deal of these items have been rare from the time they were
initially released. The items marketed only through the Mighty Ducks team stores are
extremely hard to find. The other items pop up from to time in online auctions.
