Games
Since half of being a Duck
is playing hockey, it's only proper that Disney made several tie-ins to the sport. All
Mighty Ducks merchandise is also liscenced by the NHL, allowing the toys to expand into
the hockey universe. Disney also included crimefighting-based games, to round out the
whole of the team's universe.
LCD Handheld
Videogame
A throwback to the late 80's and early 90's,
this LCD screen game can be carried around in a bag or the car for fun on the go. You play
as Wildwing, racing to collect piles of hockey pucks while avoiding hunter drones and
Dragaunus's evil henchmen. Call on Grin if you need help, and he'll wheel in to deliver a
helping hand. The game saves your highest score for each level, to challenge yourself or
friends to new heights.
Tabletop Hockey
Game
Pictured here beside the unrelated D2 movie,
this tabletop hockey game is a miniature version of a fooseball-type game featured in many
recreation halls. Two players maneuver the figures on ice with poles, twisting the poles
to make their players shoot. While the game itself is a great idea, the Ducks team
consists solely of Wildwing and five Nosedives! This set was only sold in Disney stores.
Wham-O Frisbee
Taking the fandom of the Ducks outdoors, this
frisbee is made by Wham-O and features Wildwing in his goalie gear on the disc. An
official weight frisbee made with a special paint that resists scratching, this frisbee is
very hard to find. I have only seen it once or twice in online auctions.
Wildwing Yo-Yo
Marketed only in the Disney stores, this
yo-yo had two rubberized sides that featured a three-dimensional picture of Wildwing
leaping from the Aerowing, with a starry background. The unique way in which the graphics
are produced makes this yo-yo unusual, not only amongst Ducks merchandise but amongst
yo-yos as well.
Vegum Official Weight Hockey Puck
Made by Vegum, this hockey puck differs from
most offered through Disney, in the fact that it is official NHL weight and could be used
in an actual game if needed. The puck features the MD:TAS logo on one side, and has
cross-hatched grids along the rim. A rare find, I have only seen this puck once in an
online auction.
Notes: Items
from this section are rare in general, and will be very hard to find nowadays. The items
marketed through the Disney stores might still be tracked down with a great deal of
sleuthing. The best place to find any of these is in an online auction site.
